Sad news

It is with sadness that I inform you that Betty Dean of Kidderminster Golf Club has died. She was very involved in the County for many years. certainly Second Team Captain 1979-1980, Vets Captain 1992/93 & 2001 & Vets President 2004. For those of you who knew her this is a sad loss. For those who did not know Betty personally I’m sure you’re all aware of the huge legacy she has left with the numerous county and county vets competitions that are played for a trophy in her name.

She died on Good Friday and her funeral is on 1st May 2024.

Below are some tributes from her golfing friends:

It was with great sadness that I learned that Betty had died.

We were really good friends throughout our County and Vets days and we shared many joyful memories. It was a great pleasure to know her and she will be sadly missed.

Betty was a great golfer and a wonderful foursomes competitor  with her amazing friend Anne Hunter .

She always had a smile on her face and had a quiet cheeky sense of humour.

She was indeed hugely involved in County and Vets golf, a warm lovely lady, very supportive and a good friend to me. I am sure she will be greatly missed.

Sorry to learn of Betty Deans death. I remember her well as I played
also at that time in the Vets County competitions. Not many in our age
group left but I well recall her always cheerful company and
knowledge

That’s very sad news of what sounds like a lovely lady who has indeed very much left a legacy..
